A highly rated youngster, Anthony Stokes started his career at Arsenal before spells with Falkirk, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.  In August 2010, Anthony joined Celtic from Hibernian where he went on to enjoy a highly successful period, making 180 appearances for the club and scoring 80 goals.  His first goal for the club came on September 2010 when he netted the winner in 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Following his successful run with Celtic, Stokes enjoyed a short loan period with Hibernian helping them to win the Scottish cup in 2016 before making a permanent move to Blackburn Rovers. This summer Stokes completed his highly anticipated move back to Hibs where he and manager Neil Lennon are confident Stokes is the key factor in getting Hibs where they want to be again.

Following a successful run at Hibernian Football Club Stokes signed with Apollon Smyrnis FC in Greek Super League.

In the Summer of 2018 Stokes moved onto Iranian side Tiraxtur FC.
